Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"My first GMAT tutoring session with the student went well. He expressed in our introductory call that he would like help on both the Verbal and Quantitative sections of the GMAT. He found the diagnostic test in his GMAT prep guide challenging, so we focused on reviewing those questions. We started our session by going over the Verbal section of the Diagnostic Test. We reviewed some of the questions he answered incorrectly along with his approaches to the different question types. He feels most confident about the Critical Reasoning and Sentence Correction sections and least confident about Reading Comprehension. For Sentence Correction, I suggested he identify the main subject and verb in each sentence, then determine which of the answer choices is best. For Reading Comprehension, I suggested that he summarize each paragraph and write down his own answer to the question before he looks at the answer choices. Then we reviewed some of the questions in the Quantitative portion of the diagnostic test. I directed him to the Data Sufficiency strategy chart to help him answer those questions in the future. For our next tutoring session, he will go through the questions he answered incorrectly that we did not have a chance to review. For the questions he still has challenges with, we will review them in our next section. He will also read the Math Review in the GMAT guide to familiarize himself with the mathematical concepts covered on the exam."
"We reviewed problems in the GMAT Quant prep book. The student is new to the GMAT so he just needs to become more familiar with the concepts."
"-Covered the first practice test taken and the primary initial -Focus going forward will be on proper timing of the test (using max time available vs having extra time at the end), quantitative problem solving sections."
