Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over quite a bit today for our first session. We completed a math, language arts, and most of a science review. The student has finals next week so we prepped for that. One thing to note is that he picks up information quickly but tends to have minor mistakes here and there. He definitely has a way of figuring out the problem, but he doesn't like to show his work. We need to make sure that he always shows work even if the teacher "doesn't check.""
"I went through some exam review questions with the student. He solved questions of probability, permutation, combination, rates, number properties, sets, Venn diagrams and percentages. He is showing very good progress in math and has reduced significantly the number of avoidable calculation mistakes that he makes."
"The student finished some of his homework. After, I tested him on his vocabulary and spelling words. He wrote down the words he couldn't remember, and I asked him to construct his own sentences. We also worked on a PowerPoint that he needed to complete."
"The student worked on Math and Reading. We then worked on reviewing badminton rules and vocabulary. We then worked on number sense, including rounding numbers to tens, hundreds, and thousands and time elapse."
"We continued working on history assignments. A lot of the assignments used terms that were repeated. When the student couldn't retain the information, I had him take notes of all the vocab. We were able to complete the majority of his assignments, and I assigned him the rest of the assignments as well as notes for any material not covered."
"The student and I worked on her language arts revisions. She was to rewrite her answers to various questions about a book she read. We worked on why she misunderstood the questions. She caught on very quickly!! Next we studied capitals/ countries for an upcoming social studies test. She created flashcards so she would be able to practice them throughout the week. She seems prepared for her upcoming tests and worked really hard during this session!"
