Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent most of the time working on the student's macroeconomics midterm. We also did some work with sampling distributions for statistics. I am enjoying working with him."
"The student and I went over the homework materials for 10.4 The Binomial Theorem. She struggled with the concepts a little bit but eventually was able to connect the ideas with the previous section on Pascal's triangle."
"We went over probability and the student tackled several of her homework questions. I think her understanding is coming along nicely. Next week we will be preparing for her first class exam using a review packet provided by the teacher."
"We reviewed the student's homework today, going step by step to understand each problem, the formulas needed, and then the context of the answer."
"The student needed help with homework related to statistics for environmental studies. I helped her evaluate distributions of data and assess for normality using several techniques (i.e., measures of central tendency, histograms, q-q plots and the "empirical rule")."
"The student has a case study due for her homework tomorrow, involving quite a few calculations and statistical analysis to be completed in Excel. I helped her work through the formulas needed to solve the problems and explained the concepts along the way. She struggled with how to analyze data in Excel - I used screenshots and typed out Excel commands, and I think she gets how to do it well enough now; she was able to solve a few of the calculations. She needs to work more on understanding the meaning of standard deviation and why it's used, and the same for quartiles/median values. She was more focused this session as she's motivated to complete her assignment. She finished most of the calculations and a few of the analysis questions."
