"The student and I performed a visual hierarchical analysis of an existing app for comparison in creating a new similar app. We discussed options of improving on app and talked about sitemaps and their visual importance in describing the "flow" of an app/ website."
"Continuing on our introductory work with the C programming language, we did some pair programming on two assignments for the class. We discussed parsing with the strtok() function as well as scanf() / sscanf(), as well as variations on output using fprintf(). We talked about character arrays (aka strings), and explored a bit about pointers and how they are used with call-by-reference and call-by-value. We also identified stylistic aspects of programming such as indentation and making programs readable for the human consumer."
"The student and I went over his study guide for his final exam. It seems that he has a solid understanding of the material and that he should do well on his exam. We will finish going over his study guide tomorrow in preparation for his exam on Tuesday."
"Covered basics of Swift such as variable types, classes, for loops, while loops, etc. Talked about what the student covered in her previous Swift class. Talked about the differences between Swift and Java. Went over some Java questions too."
"Today we covered the basic functions of a digital flashcard program. I showed him how to build a basic desk, add cards, and change the interval settings, as well as how to browse/tag certain cards. The student followed instructions very well and did not seem to have any difficulty with the material. He also was engaged and asked very good questions."
"We began by discussing some minor matters about pointers. It was clear that it would be helpful to work on some basics of binary/ hexadecimal numbering to give a general background to the student regarding how things are stored in memory. Much of our time was given to this, with some basics on char arrays and null termination at the end of the session. He did grasp the content well. We will pick up with specific C++ content next session."
