Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed previous lessons and learned new vocab, such as morning, noon, afternoon and evening. I'm having the student combine Chinese words to make sentences now. I have taught him a lot of words and it should be easy to combine all words into sentences."
"It was a great lesson. The student has been practicing what we've learned for the past week, one hour per day. We talked about his vacation last week, and he sent me some translations. He was able to try to translate them for the most part, and only need me to help him with a couple of words. So he made great progress!"
"I spent the first half hour working with the student on his Mandarin and math homework. We began by reviewing what we had worked on (telling time, etc.) and I then taught him how to say some common activities in Chinese (play basketball, watch TV, etc.)."
"We went over the new words and the student can write all of them! He can write the character correct, the pinyin correct, and he knows the meaning of the words. We also went over the sentence structure. He is very good at making sentences. No other concerns."
"Student #1 learned to sing "Two Tigers" and give basic directions. He was very focused and was able to remember very quickly. Student #2 and student #3 practiced on giving directions and learned to describe the five senses: smell, taste, vision, sound and touching. The also leaned a tongue twister and the homework for the weekend is to practice saying it."
"Today's session went really well. We started off with a quiz covering material from our previous session. The student and I later continued onto new material, writing a short paragraph introducing family. The new material covered in our session also included days of the week, months, and we are about to start with "next week", "next year", etc. which we will continue in our next session."
"Today the student and I reviewed the homework from Lesson Six. Then, we started Lesson Seven and did some exercises. Homework was assigned for her to take home."
"I clarified some grammar for the student, and we went through some email conversations she'd had, to make sure she understood the grammar and vocab. We spent the rest of the session identifying key common phrases from the textbooks and her audio lessons, as well as key grammar structures for her to practice."
"The student and I listed to "2 Tigers" song in Mandarin and we reviewed colors. We also learned about ice cream and flavors."
"We did self-introductions and then covered numbers from 101-999; reviewed percentages and "do you have free time?" 60 min of prep"
"We practiced the conversation. We talked about Chinese poetry. The session went very lively, because the student showed a lot of interest with the topic."
"I introduced the student to the final of the major question words, "how?" and ran some drills for her to practice using all 6 question words."
