"We went through some of the commonly asked grammatical questions for the multiple choice sections; we talked about what to focus on in the sentences in order to point yourself to the answer; he wrote a practice essay and we broke it down step by step and timed each section to show how to pace the writing; we talked about the qualities of a great essay vs a good essay, how to improve on the good foundations of his essay, and what he did well in his essay"
"The student and I went over how to recognize first and second declension Latin nouns and adjectives, and verbs of all conjugations according to how they function in the context of a sentence. We also reviewed vocabulary and translated two sizable paragraphs of Latin into English."
"The student and I discussed his philosophy paper on Descartes due 11/21. He had prepared a good start to his paper with an introduction and description of Descartes' argument. Together we discussed possible critiques and how to go about expressing them in written form. We both left confident of his ability to complete the essay according to the given criteria."
"The student and I spent the entire session working on math specifically focusing on single and double-digit addition and subtraction. She was attentive throughout the session. Her mother plans to practice single-digit addition and subtraction with her throughout the week. We plan to meet again next Wednesday, 12/5."
"The student and I focused on preparing for a grammar test he had the next day, and preparing for his math midterm this session. His English test was going to be on conjunctions and interjections. We first went over his homework on the subject, and it looked like the student understood the concepts well. I then gave him a bunch of practice sentences and he came up with some on his own as well. When I felt that he was sufficiently prepared for his test, we moved on to math. He had a review quiz on chapter 6 that we went over briefly. He did very well on the test. We then started at the beginning of the curriculum, going over PEMDAS and basic algebra. We went through practice questions for each of the subject, and he did very well. A couple things he needed reminding of, but afterwards he remembered everything and did very well. We will continue to review all the math material before his midterm next week."
