Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked on homework that covered matrices, matrix addition/subtraction and the dot product, row exhelon and reduced row echelon and matrix operations to solve a system of equations in matrix form."
"The student and I reviewed growth and decay problems. Her attitude was inquisitive and positive. At first, she had forgotten how to get rid of "e" by taking the natural log and properties of exponents within logs or natural logs. I retaught her some of those ideas, so maybe this will help her understand the algebra behind solving for k. The rest of the questions came easier once we solved for k. She needs to continue to practice, so she can remember the methodology behind these types of questions."
"We studied for the coming test on solving inequalities. Particularly, we solved polynomial inequalities, rational inequalities, and absolute values inequalities. There are two methods we have used: solving inequalities algebraically and graphically. Also, we were practicing writing the answer using the interval notation and graphing on a number line. We discussed special cases when we were solving absolute value inequalities."
"Today we worked on finding a quadratic equation given the vertex and a point or the two x-intercepts and a point. The student also worked on how adding and subtracting constants, along with multiplying constants to a function, affects the graph. We reviewed how to use the quadratic equation to find x-intercepts as well."
"We discussed complex numbers and their graphs. We looked at the different forms of complex numbers, how to convert between these forms, and when each are useful. We then practiced plotting these numbers in each of their forms using a worksheet."
"This session was used to brush up on matrices, as the student plans to makeup her matrices test on Wednesday. We completely went through a previous matrix quiz, as well as a review provided by her teacher."
