Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I prepared for her upcoming quiz. We went over several topics. One of them was vocabulary, which will be the focus of her upcoming quiz. We created flashcards and went over several exercises. Then, we reviewed the difference between preterit and imperfect tenses for -ar and -er/-ir endings. Then, we did a crossword puzzle together. We also went over irregular conjugations in the -ir/-er imperfect and preterit endings. We did this by making and going over several charts rigorously."
"Today we reviewed the verb estar and how it is conjugated. We talked about what it means to conjugate a verb and why and how we do that. It was great having a little more review and it went really well!"
"The client is continuing to prepare for his exam in Spanish 2. Tomorrow, he'll be quizzed on writing short essays in Spanish using his vocabulary and reflexive verbs. Then he'll be asked to have a short conversation with a classmate. We concentrated on drills on vocabulary, conjugating verbs, and also on pronunciation."
"We introduced the concept of the preterite verb form and covered conjugations for regular -ar, -er, and -ir verbs. Then, we began covering some of the irregular verb forms. We also covered vocabulary that the student was learning. I introduced him to a few resources that I have used throughout my time learning the language that are great tools for learning concepts, vocabulary, and quizzing/testing yourself on the material. I am definitely looking forward to working with him and helping him grow in his knowledge and understanding of the language."
"The student got a new list of vocabulary for the week. We used flashcards provided by his teacher, and he had excellent focus. He was struggling to recognize a couple of the verbs when they were in a form he wasn't used to, so for extra practice, I assigned those verbs for him to conjugate himself. I also asked him to write 3 sentences using the vocab list. He had a test last week on some irregular verb conjugations and said it had gone well and that his grade had gone up. His attitude about Spanish has improved a lot."
"The student and I completed a review of the new vocabulary added to her unit by her teacher online. We will be moving on to more interactive and complex activities such as reading articles and watching movies in Spanish. I will be introducing her to culture as well as further developing her understanding of the language."
