"We covered inverse trig functions. Student was struggling most with the new proofs using algebraic substitutions to represent stuff like (tan(cos(v))) etc., but she needs to practice it. I think she'll do fine. Strategies focused on drawing the picture out to help evaluate the expression. She reports keeping up with material this semester, which is great!"
"We conducted a review on Cramer's rule with matrix equations. I introduces all the aspects of the equation and a mnemonic device to aid in the use and structure of the equation for 2x2 and 3x3 matrix equations. Student struggled with the order at first, but began to catch on to the mnemonic device in place after repetition. After a some practice problems we moved on to calculating the area of a triangle with three vectors and determinant equations. The student got confused with scalar and determinant calculation setup, but I clarified the distinction. I also correlated the determinant equation with the actual area of triangle equation using the vectors and the distance formula."
"Student is an intelligent learner and quick learner. After explaining basic laws of logarithms at the beginning of the lesson, he rapidly caught on and started completing much of his homework assignment without too much guidance from me. I believe that I will be an excellent supplement to his pre-calculus class and that together we will be able to help him pass his class with flying colors."
"The student and I continued to prepare him for his upcoming AP Calc exam in May. He had a practice problems packet that we went through that he felt mostly comfortable with."
"Covered long division and simplification of polynomials. Very straightforward - just involved teaching and practice. The student followed up by sending me a list of topics her teacher said would need to be covered in the future so I could prepare for the next session."
"I assisted the student with her pre-calculus. She missed several days of school. I helped her to catch up on her math by explaining to her the teacher's notes on complex numbers. She seemed to grasp the material rather well!"
