Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we focused on reviewing the basics of derivatives. We talked about the polynomial, product, and quotient rules, and practiced using the rules on problems at a variety of levels. We worked on some word problems involving derivatives (including finding the equation of a tangent line at a point and basic projectile motion problems). She has made a lot of progress in the last two units, and is doing incredibly well with this material."
"The student has her final tomorrow! We're actually meeting twice today to review everything. We started at the beginning in Chapter 5, and worked through the end of Chapter 7. She also thinks she will probably breeze through a lot of the stuff to come as well."
"We practiced some problem topics: absolute value inequalities, volume and mass comparisons, radical expressions, sets and subsets, positive/negative problems, and real/complex number problems."
"We did the remaining problems on this week's cumulative review, and then we reviewed topics for the test the next day."
"Today the student worked on the same problems, starting with sequences and series. We reviewed recursive and non-recursive formulas for sequences, as well as sigma notation for series. Sequences seem to be an area where she is more confident solving problems. The language of math problems can be a stumbling block for many people, so I try to use formulas in conjunction with plain language to help reinforce what those formulas mean. We also went over the binomial theorem, and she seemed confident with those types of problems."
"Today we started the review packet for the student's final exam. We reviewed generating graphs from trig equations and a word problem. We will continue the review next week."
