Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed how to balance neutralization reaction equations and write products, as well as conversions using molarity, molar mass, and volume. We practiced calculating pH, pOH, [H+], and [OH-] by filling in incomplete tables on worksheets provided by the student's teacher. We also covered neutralization stoichiometry and amphiprotic/amphoteric properties. I quizzed him on three sets of vocabulary words for his English class."
"Today, the student asked for help finishing up a chemistry lab on gas formation and identification. We then worked on Algebra 2 covering combinations and permutations. Finally, I aided the student in researching some geography and locations of major battles in WWI. There were a few chemistry concepts that the student was a bit shaky on. She was quite confident about the algebra by the time we were done and had made a good deal of headway on her history assignment."
"In this session, we reviewed and expanded upon kinetics and also reviewed equilibrium (Le Chatelier's principle) in anticipation of a test. Emphasis was placed on first order reactions and determining a rate law based on empirical data. Looking forward to the current and subsequent material, I gave the student my four-page guide on the pH concept and my twelve-page guide on titrations."
