"The student set the tone really well because he had remembered some of the lessons that we had done before. We then did worksheets dealing with the imperfect and the preterite. He did a very good job looking at the references in the textbook and conjugating the verbs the way they needed to be."
"On Tuesday the student and I briefly reviewed reflexive pronouns, verb conjugations, and sentence structure. We then backtracked and covered conjugation of regular ar, ir, er verbs. We talked about "person" and "singular/plural" to help him organize subjects and their corresponding verb conjugations in his mind. He and I also discussed regular verb stems, how to detect them, where to look for them ( in the infinitive). He and I talked about some common er ,ir, and ar verbs (hacer, tener, poner for example) in the context of different sentences and different subjects. Finally, he worked on his homework which covered reflexive pronouns and conjugations as well as reflexive sentence constructions (reflexive pronouns can follow and precede the verb in what makes two different constructions)."
"The student and I practiced speaking while integrating current vocabulary related to food and the arts as well as the use of related verbs both in the present and preterite tense. He needed a little bit of support in being able to switch from one tense to the other as well as reminders as to what form of the verb to use when responding to a question. He reported his improvement on his first marking period grade due to his high scores on the latest quizzes he took."
"The student did really well today as we mainly reviewed general Spanish material to better her speaking, writing, and reading abilities. She got everything and thought the session was very productive and helpful for her. She has also shared her grade has been improving thanks to our progress in the sessions."
"The student's aunt requested that I work with the student on organization and study strategies, so for the first 20 mins of this session we spent organizing her Spanish binder and coming up with systems and strategies for daily organization and documentation of homework assignments. We spent the rest of this session with her working through her homework, and reviewing vocabulary and preterite tense verbs. She had to use her vocab to complete sentences regarding chores that were already completed and translating multiple choice questions. We also reviewed irregular verb conjugations for preterite tense and discussed the benefits of making flashcards for memory. We will begin working on various studying strategies and on improving her systems in place to keep her assignments organized so that she is not missing homework assignments due to forgetting since it is not written down. Once her binder was organized and all her worksheets had a respective place she did say that it felt good to have it tidy! Yay!"
"The student said he had a vocab test this week, so we spent a good chunk of time reviewing the shopping/clothing vocab (focusing on spelling as well). We also reviewed conjugations of the verbs interesar, encantar, importar, and quedar, as those can be fairly tricky. We finished the session by working through a couple of reading passages in the chapter to introduce more vocabulary and learn some of the cultural/historical topics presented in the lesson."
