The student corrected his cell booklet with my help so he can turn it in for a higher grade. We worked on some of the questions on his study guide for his upcoming test on the Odyssey.

We covered the student's test review for an algebra II test tomorrow. We focused mainly on sequences and series. Writing explicit formulae for arithmetic/geometric sequences was something that confused the student previously, and we're at the point where he can do these sorts of problems easily. The student still uses the method I showed him for determining intervening means and I'm happy that my method makes intuitive sense for him! Other review focused on binomial expansion and Pascal's triangle, which he understands to the point where he can explain it to me. We did a little chemistry as well, balancing redox reactions in acidic/basic solutions.

The student and I finished working on his exam review guide. We reviewed system of equations word problems, the midpoints of lines based on the coordinates, the length of lines based on those coordinates, and proportionality problems involving direct, inverse, joint, and combined proportionality.

Tutoring review by William in Seagoville, TX
As I mentioned in my last summary, the student took a timed practice LSAT yesterday, and scored a 149. This represents a 6 point increase over the practice LSAT she took at the end of her study program, and both of us are pleased with the progress. Interestingly, and as I've noted before, she does extremely well on the substance of logic games questions, and when she is untimed, can score nearly perfectly. However, on timed tests, the logic games sections are her lowest score, and she has trouble finishing them. For this reason, I'm emphasizing practice, practice, and more practice of logic games, and assigned some hefty reading in the LG bible. We will be discussing this in our next meeting, as well as the specific logical reasoning strategies I mentioned in my last session summary.

Tutoring review by Noah in Seagoville, TX
We spent most of our first lesson on the essay. We went over how to construct and prove a logical argument. I gave the student one to do on her own for homework. Then we began the reading section of the ACT. She had a lot of questions about whether she should be taking the SAT or ACT. I suggested she could consider doing both and seeing how they go and told her that I could teach her strategies for either or both tests.
