Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed pinyin, numbers and the vocab that he learned from the previous lesson. I taught him colors and a few new numbers in Chinese. He knew a lot of the colors in Chinese already which was really impressive. The student learns Chinese at an extremely fast pace for his age. He is very smart and has no problem with pronunciations."
"This was a great session. The student is going to China in two weeks and we've been trying to practice more listening and speaking skills for him. He went over his speech with me again and made sure his accent was good. I can totally understand everything he was saying, so he made great progress."
"We studied the tones of Mandarin Chinese and learned basic greetings. The student was able to ask questions like " what's your name?" "How are you?" "Are you Chinese?" "Are you American?" "Is he a dog?". Excellent!"
"Today, the student and I covered the four tones, pinyin, and some key phrases. We covered two chapters of the Chinese textbook. He has a strong command of the pronunciation - he only needs to work on the four tones and pinyin sounds. I left him with characters to practice his tones on - ta shi, ta zuo, ta zou, and ta lai."
"Today the student and I talked about Chinese food and began to speak simple sentences in Chinese. We focused a lot on speaking and stringing several words together. He did a great job and I am very impressed with his ambition and ability to learn quickly. Next week we will continue with our food and drink lesson and perhaps talk about vehicles and modes of transportation if we have time."
"For the first hour, we went over the student's translation homework, which used the new vocabulary from last week. Then, we reviewed the difference between coming and going. I think that she is improving in her ability to translate and just needs to continue practicing and reviewing old vocabulary."
