Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session, we worked on the third person pronoun, is ea id. The student had a quiz coming up on this material, so we worked through some practice exercises online as well as the quiz review, after reviewing the basics of the forms of the pronouns. After some work with the paradigm visible on the desk, I covered over the forms so that she had to produce the forms entirely on her own, and she ended up doing well at this. Translating the forms into English gave her a bit more difficulty, regarding keeping straight whether to use 'he' or 'him', etc. I prompted her when she had made an error, and we talked about the difference in the forms in English and their meanings. I also encouraged her to keep practicing to make sure she had those straight."
"The students and I began our session with a review of the definitions of nouns, adjectives, and verbs. Despite the long break between sessions, both students did very well in this exercise. We also reviewed Latin body part words in a game of Simon says. For the first time, we used both sets of body part words I introduced. Both students did very well."
"Continued to review verb forms via verb synopses and covered future active participles; worked through some practice sentences with all types of participles."
"We reviewed indirect statements, including how they're formed, translated, grammar, and more. Additionally, we went over basics such as cases, number, and gender."
"The student and I went over her quiz. We figured out what she did wrong, then we made sure to prepare for her next quiz."
"We went over the student's homework. He did really good work on the translations. We went over adverbs (how to form and translate them). We then went back to an earlier chapter, focusing on the genitive case."
