Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"On Monday we reviewed for his biology exam set for Tuesday. We had a considerable amount to go over. However, he was incredibly engaged (the most I have seen him) and he asked many questions about the materials. It was a very promising session. He did seem to absorb more of the material and he also referenced things he had learned in class. We worked on reviewing genetics, including how to graph Punnett squares and calculate the probability of genes. It was very interesting for both of us!"
"We practiced geometry, pattern recognition, and problem solving/logic today. The student also worked on patterns and geometry."
"The student and I discussed his contracts course outline and went over recent legal cases he had been assigned."
"We covered polyatomic ions, charge, creating simple compounds. We also outlined -ous and -ic endings. We studied simple rules for polyatomic ions."
"We studied Flash Cards on Polyatomic Ion Nomenclature and Atomic Naming. Also, he worked on his Julius Caesar homework for English."
"We read Chapters 2-5 together and made the appropriate annotations. He had read some of chapter 2 for today. He had to read through chapter 4, which he has a Reading Quiz on Thursday. He is aware he has the quiz on Thursday and said he will review the annotations. Also, we summarized each chapter at the end as a reminder. We spent most of the time reading and discussing Brave New World, but the last fifteen minutes we started to prepare for his paper on a dystopian society. He came up with the setting that will be on earth in the future year of 2214 in San Diego, CA. His society exists because the black plague has killed everyone off except one million people in a high-tech location led by a dictator. I asked him to come up with some more information for their religion, economics, identity, hierarchy, politics, technology, and a few sentences. He is also to think of a name for his society. We will not be meeting next week because of the holiday. He still struggles with reading, but we are a chapter ahead and he only has to read four pages a night for the next two weeks to stay on track to Chapter 9. I marked each chapter up to Chapter 9 with a colored tab."
