Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was our last session before the SAT. We reviewed what to expect at the test site and how to prepare the night before and the morning of the test. We reviewed test strategies for all topics, with a focus on math."
"For our first session, the student and I went over the basics of the test--the sections, timing, and what the test is testing. He expressed more anxiety over the verbal section than the mathematics, so we began working on the synonyms and analogies. He felt comfortable with at least half of the synonyms. Analogies posed a challenge for him, but the more practice he gets with finding the relationships between words, the better off he will be--the vocabulary itself doesn't present too large of an issue for him. From here we moved on to mathematics achievement. He is clearly more confident with math. The more practice that we get, the more he will feel confident in his abilities. We will also work on paying attention to all of the information provided. Overall, our sessions will focus on building his confidence with the test. For next session, I asked him to study stems in the prep book so we can do some vocabulary work. Very patient student."
"Went over practice SSAT test she took, reviewed strategies for math and when to skip and when do try process of elimination, discussed strategies on calming herself before exam, discussed with her mother about recommendations and summary of her progress."
