Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed all the sections that I had the student complete for homework including the essay. She did very well on her work. In Math, she needs to review equations and concepts she has not covered recently. Looking for key words and clues will help in both the Science and Reading sections. Implementing new strategy for both sections where she will do the passages that interest her most first and proceed from there. Continue to work on pacing."
"This was our first session working on the ACT instead of the SAT. There are obviously some big differences between the two tests (in particular, the science section and the presence of trigonometry in the math section), but I think all our practice with the SAT will give the student some good momentum for the ACT too. His attitude and engagement continue to make him a very pleasant student to work with. I look forward to forging forward into this new territory."
"We started the session by having the student take a timed test of the math portion of a practice ACT. I scored the test afterward, and it would have been one of her better performances on the ACT Math to date. We then sat down and went through questions she had left blank and questions she had marked as being ones she had difficulty knowing how to approach. We talked about good approaches for the individual problems, and we talked a little about secondary approaches to problems such as plugging in answers when you're not sure how to solve something."
