Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I read and answered the RC questions for: A Bad Robot, Marine Biology, and A Misunderstanding. We then reviewed all answer keys. He got a perfect score on one of the passages. All are rated Lexile 100 level. We also reviewed the answers for last week's set of questions on cicadas. Next week, we'll review Lexile 200 pieces and compare our answers to the grading key."
"Today, we continued to review for the student's upcoming Math test. We worked on problems with multiplication, halving and doubling numbers to get answers, and logic grids. She did a great job with all the information and was reminded to check her work."
"We worked on developing the student's survey for the end of the year project. We went through corrections her professor made and fixed them on the final survey. We had to follow specific guidelines on how to frame the questions to avoid bias, ensure honest in answering, etc."
"I started this session by checking the student's assignment. He did a good job and led us to an interesting conversation about punctuations. I left him descriptions and examples of how to use more advanced punctuations like colons, semicolons, and dashes. These are the attributes that set apart a great writer from a good one. Then, we talked about how to handle persuasive essays. Persuasive essays are very similar to argumentative essays, so we talked about the similarities and differences, and then I assigned him a persuasive essay to write. Overall, it was a very productive session. I will check his essay in the next session and take it from there."
"The student and I reviewed some grammar exercises and his writing assignment homework that's due tomorrow (Friday). He had done well on the exercises. As soon as we reviewed the work together, he often would self-correct previous errors."
"Today, the student and I reviewed his spelling words for understanding and accuracy. We read a chapter in his chapter book and did a comprehensive response. We concluded our session by reviewing multiplication facts."
