Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In our previous session, the student and I had spent a lot of time going over writing techniques, so I wanted to focus more on executing those skills in this session. To achieve this, I asked her to complete one creative writing exercise and one instructional exercise. The goal was to get her to start writing in prose form, rather than in "bullet point" style, showing her how to communicate complete ideas. I suggested to her that she continue to do these kinds of exercises daily on her own so that communicating through writing becomes more intuitive for her."
"The student and I discussed possible ways to think about organization and summary vs analysis. We reviewed reference materials on writing styles and old assignments. For future sessions, we planned to focus on conversation essays and a research paper assignment due next week."
"We specifically covered general comma rules and discussed the usage in professional writing. We discussed some more complex comma topics and the nuances for different professions. The student was very receptive and seemed to understand the concepts. The student is going to work on some take home quizzes and fixing some of his writings. Next week, we will review his progress and move on to verbs and tenses."
