Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was review for a exam and we reviewed a couple of chapters dealing with stock valuations and pricing models."
"We read through and discussed the general nature of American law and its roots in the English common law."
"The student has continued to use his note book consistently and has turned in his assignments regularly. He made it through the "tech week"ù of his school play, during which he was often at school until 8 or 9 at night, but he was given time to do his homework. He recently received a B on his marketing presentation, and also took a history test (about which he feels confident, given his limited time to study this week). He recently took a "homework quiz"ù in algebra on graphing quadratic functions. The student and his English class have begun discussing a thesis project for a novel they've been reading. He brought some class handouts about the thesis project to the lesson, and I quickly reviewed them. He is organizing his draft. Following the lesson, I created a character and body paragraph organizer so that he could type out the specific quotes he wants to use, and his commentary about the quotes. I shared the document with him, and he is going to scan and email me the thesis assignment packet his teacher created, so that I can better assist him in the drafting process. His teacher also requires that the thesis contain commentary and interpretation rather than summarizing. He and I discussed an effective way to create commentary in a literary essay, which is by interweaving quotes within his analysis. I offered to help him throughout the week as he drafts his body paragraphs and completes his outline. I told him to email his writing to me, and I would provide feedback as soon as possible."
