Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We finished the Reading section lesson and discussed and practiced a 'key words' method of approaching the passages. We also talked about strategies for approaching the questions and narrowing down answer choices."
"We covered the futur anterieur briefly through practice sentences. We then continued reading the novel "Les Voleurs", that the student needs to complete by the end of third quarter. We took turns reading as the student paraphrased after each set of a 2-3 paragraphs."
"The student and I reviewed several topics in geometry: triangles, circles, and lines. We worked through problems from all three topics and, reviewed the major concepts of geometry. We also review some of the verbal reasoning questions she had done for homework. We are planning to continue with word problems and grammar rules during our next session."
"The student and I spent our time on history and reviewed the information he needs to know for this week, while also trying to make connections between the facts so they don't seem so random and arbitrary. He was engaged and alert and asked good questions. Because his quizzes at school are detail-based (names, dates, places), I suggested he make flashcards so he can be prepared for the quiz. Making a few flashcards every day and reviewing them a few minutes each night will be easier than trying to memorize everything at once."
"Our tutoring session was focused on forming and writing sentences. The student has trouble with forming sentences and we will continue to review sentences and how to form them. Also, new vocabulary will be introduced as we progress to help him feel more confident writing sentences."
