"The student and I discussed some strategies for writing a dramatic monologue for his English assignment. While he composed a first draft I made a list of Physics and Math concepts he should start to think about when studying for his finals. He showed me his monologue which he did a very good job on. He also showed me a practice packet he had gotten for his Math midterm. If the actual test is anything like the packet I'm sure he will do very well on that test, nonetheless we will still review it together at a later date."
"We started our session with a brief review of multiplying and dividing fractions. This is a concept that will be included on his common core tests, and so it is imperative that he is comfortable with it. After a couple of drills, we moved on to work on English. We moved slowly, reading through a sample passage, discussing techniques, and answering multiple choice questions. These were similar to the questions that we had worked with on the ISEE, although the passage was longer. The student still has the tendency to guess at random rather than apply himself, but we will hopefully work on eliminating this habit. By the end of our session, he was applying his logic more willingly. I left him with more fraction work to drill. We will continue working with both math and English."
"The student watched a movie for two of her classes, and wrote an introductory paragraph about herself, to have sent to all of her professors, as an introduction. She also completed an Algebra diagnostic assessment, for the majority of the lesson. We finished up, by working on her descriptive essay for English, and looked up clubs for her to sign up for, and participate in throughout the semester. She has received 98% or higher, on all of her weekly assignments thus far. We also logged her weekly physical activity, for her Physical Education and Health class, journal assignment."
"The student and I first worked on her Algebra midterm review. She did much better completing the problems with minimal help, but still occasionally needs help with negative numbers. We next studied for her English midterm. I quizzed her on vocabulary from the Odyssey. We also worked on completing her English review."
"The student did a great job! He wrote an excellent essay, which we edited together. He is gaining proficiency with grammar rules and he seems to be understanding more of the essay form. He was very attentive and on-task for most of the session. We read some of the Lord of the Rings and he had many questions for me."
"We covered his essay on the Apollo 11 Mission and its impact on the Cold War. I helped the student make revisions on his essay."
