Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over his score report from the ACT he took in December. He has a strong score already but would like to raise it by 3 points. I brought Math and English material to go over for that session. However, his score report shows that we should mainly work on Science in the future. He is going to attempt to take two practice ACTs before the actual test."
"The student and I had an incredible session! One of the best ones yet. We spent a big chunk of our time reading and for the first time since we've met, he actually enjoyed it. Our sessions are very high in energy, a lot of motivational talks, and encouragement. He really needs this in order to give him that boost of confidence. We played a sight word game and he has really started to recognized these rather quickly. I also brought my tablet to integrate technology as a way for him to reinforce words we've been working on by taking spelling tests."
"Proceeded to discuss intermediary as well as advanced cue words for essay writing. Taught basic structure of technical and essay writing for targeted approach to prepare for the essay section of the prospective assessment. Reviewed homework as well as practiced essay writing and more eloquent and extended vocabulary for the analogy as well as synonym sections of the assessment, as with every lesson."
"Reviewed her physics packet, which covered all chapters, in preparation for the midterm. These problems focused on forces, friction, work, and vectors."
"The student and I discussed her previous test. We reviewed major math concepts and formulas so that she could efficiently apply them during her next exam. I also reminded her of shortcuts and strategies such as plugging in a number, breaking down problems into steps, and using the answers to solve a problem."
"I covered changes that needed to be made to the worksheet from before. I reviewed the pages of the textbook that laid out the concepts. The win is there was some growth in the student's conceptual understanding."
