"My eighth GMAT tutoring session with this student went well. As we went through the questions on the practice exam she took, starting with the Integrated Reasoning section and then moving to the Quantitative section, I identified a few issues for her to work on. Initially, I thought that main issue was that she needed more practice with the fundamental material covered by the GMAT, such as changing word problems into variable equations, applying geometric formulas, multiplying and dividing fractions, and combining exponents. Mastering the main reading comprehension and quantitative skills necessary to complete the questions would help her when she needs to apply them in the Integrated Reasoning section. Once we entered the Quantitative section of the exam, she noticed that she could have easily answer the first few questions correctly if she had read the questions carefully, written out the equations, crossed off answer choices on her paper, and slowed down. The main issue for this student is actually that she is rushing through the questions; she thus answers questions incorrectly and has time left over. She could have better spent that extra time correctly solving questions she knows the answers to. I again encouraged her to take each question step by step instead of rushing through it; this way, she can increase her chance of finding the correct answer."
"The student did math word problems from a GMAT book, including geometry, algebra and rate word problems. The student is doing fine - he just needs to do as many problems as he can before he takes the GMAT."
"Reviewed state assessment practice exam. There was some progress made on approach to RC, CR, and SC Verbal questions and a concentration on number properties in Quant."
