Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed the short vowel sounds for "a,e,i,o,u" and then we introduced the long vowel sounds for "a and e". We did some practice worksheets involving the sounds. Then we played a game where the student practiced her spelling skills using 4th grade level spelling words. Finally we read another chapter of "The Dognapped Cat.""
"We started the session with filling out a study guide on Julius Caesar. We then went over the questions over had over again to insure that the student was ready for the exam."
"The student took a practice test last weekend and got a 28, so her score is improving already. We went through all of the problems that she missed. She'll take one more whole test before the real test on Dec 10th."
"Student A and B each took a full length English section since the last time we met, so I went through those questions with them, stopping at any questions one of them had missed. We also looked at some grammar and English rules that I had printed out that we talked about that related to missed questions. After English, we spent some time talking about the Science section, the types of passages in that section, and the best way to approach those questions. We went through some of that. Next time we will cover some more Science and focus on anything the girls feel they need help on. Student B and I will cover geometry."
"We made sheet for AP world history on overview of civilizations. The student is supposed to fill this sheet out for every civilization as she studies them (and in the next couple of weeks will need to go back and fill out ones for civilizations at the beginning of the semester). In math we did test corrections for statistics. I reminded her of Spanish project due in November that's going to be a pretty substantial amount of work."
"We went over Chapter 5 from her PowerPoint lessons. I also went over elasticity curves. We then went over the practice test questions for that chapter and she did very well. She seems to be getting a good grasp on the concepts that we went over and was answering the questions correctly."
