Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I discussed her online high school and how it works. We then proceeded to go over an English assignment. She was asked to complete a few assignments for homework and hold for me to review before submitting them online."
"Student 1: We went over English, specifically analogies, vocabulary building, and spelling exercises. The student also wrote a short essay on a holiday trip and learned how to write an outline to plan the essay. In math, we worked on lines, angles, and graph reading. We also did a multiplication facts drill. Student 2: We worked on English and language arts and spelling and vocabulary exercises. We also did a subtraction drill."
"I helped the student with a somewhat long packet from his science class about volcanoes. He completed the assignment while also reviewing the chapter."
"The student and I worked on organization during this session. We determined all homework that would need to be completed, and we also discussed what study strategies work best for him. He and I began working on his science study guide. We started making flashcards that he will be able to study during review. We're planning to meet this weekend to continue studying."
"The student and I studied for his Environmental Science quiz. We reviewed questions and concepts on global warming, greenhouse gases, and energy consumption. He knew much of the main vocabulary, and we used Google to check the smaller, more detailed facts."
"We worked on studying for her biology test and her college and career research paper. Following her biology teacher's suggestion, we broke up the session into 15-20 minute chunks with small breaks in between. The student was able to recall a decent amount of information and she even was able to identify what she needed clarification on so we worked on confidence in improving on her understanding. Breaking her revision process down into chunks helped, and if any more papers are written during the year, we now know the elements of the product her teacher is looking for so we can pace accordingly."
