Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered how to calculate the sum of finite arithmetic sequences, finite geometric sequences, and infinite geometric sequences. We went over the formulas of each and discussed the components of each formula. Afterward, we worked on two of her math homework assignments. The student has a good feel for this material and had no problem solving her homework problems. She has a quiz on it next week and feels very confident going into it. Her confidence is showing in her overall class performance. She recently got an 89% on her last math test and her math grade has improved from an F to a B since we began our tutoring sessions. Overall, I am very happy with her performance."
"We covered piece-wise functions, domain and range, and composite functions. The student was willing to learn and asked many questions if he did not understand. He understands the concepts, he just needs to practice more."
"We covered graphing coordinates and calculating distances. I spent most of the session going over the basics of graphs with the student. I told him that if he needed me to provide practice problems, I am very willing to do so."
"Today, the student wanted to review the material for the test and we worked on the review guide the teacher had provided her. We worked with the exponential functions, growth and decay functions, writing these functions, and solving some application problems."
"We reviewed Monday and Wednesday night's homework on logarithmic and exponential functions. The student has no problem with solving them. He just needs to work on conceptualizing the domain and range."
"The student had two homework assignments on sum and difference identities for sine and cosine. We were able to complete both assignments. He didn't have very much difficulty with the assignment. He was a little rusty on remembering the values of his special angles, but he got back into the swing of things fairly quickly. We then looked ahead to the next lesson on the formulas for tangent. The student took the ACT on Saturday. He said the math section went well and that there was only one question he had no idea how to do."
