Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was my first session with the student. First we worked on relative extrema, and I explained how the derivative can tell you about maximum and minimum points and what the pitfalls of the method were. I then extended this into optimizations problems. The session went very well, and I believe she has a stronger grasp on the subject. We will continue working on it next time."
"two step inequalities complimentary and supplementary angles adding and subtracting integers The student made some simple mistakes on a previous test; he knew all of the material but got several answers wrong because of adding and subtracting wrong. Worked on positive and negative integers. When taking tests and quizzes he needs to work more slowly. He worked hard and was willing to do better."
"The session went well today. We mostly covered problems involving rates of change. We talked about how to break a derivative into the product of two derivatives and how that can be used to simplify some problems. I think that after working through the problems, the student got pretty good at the rate of change problems and was able to correctly set up the problems quickly. We also talked a little bit about minimum and maximum points and second derivatives. I think she is doing great. She has a good grasp on most aspects of the class and is good at breaking problems down. We have been going over a few of the trickier types of problems and polishing a few of the more difficult methods of solving problems."
"The student completed the unit on Systems of Equations. He has a quiz this week. We reviewed his in-class group exercises and homework problems. We also began his review problems. We will complete those tonight."
"Covered areas. She got them pretty fast. Needs to work on her multiplication tables. I recommended a game."
"The student has started integration. We have reviewed her next two homework assignments and covered the main topics regarding methods of integration."
