Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"My first GMAT tutoring session with the student went well. As he expressed in our introductory call, he needs help on both the Verbal and Quantitative sections. He has now changed his first GMAT exam date from April 5 to April 19. On Saturday, he started a practice exam, and he found the questions more challenging than expected. We started our session by going over the questions he completed in the Quantitative section of the Diagnostic Test in the GMAT guide, beginning with Problem Solving. We discussed prime numbers, overlapping sets, standard deviation, square roots, triangle, circles, geometric solids, and rates. I encouraged him to read the Math Review in the GMAT guide, which would help him identify all of the areas covered by the Quantitative section of the exam. We then moved to the Data Sufficiency section of the Diagnostic Test, which he found difficult. We went through the first page of questions and applied the strategies to solve Data Sufficiency questions step by step. Afterwards, I also outlined strategies for answering questions in the Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, and Sentence Correction sections. For our next session, he will complete his practice exam, along with the Verbal section of the Diagnostic Test and questions from the Problem Solving and Data Sufficiency sections of the GMAT guide."
"We went over reading comprehension. We practiced creating a passage map, strategic reading and how to approach the different RC questions. The student will continue to practice independently."
"The student and I covered challenging data sufficiency questions and problem solving questions. We covered many topics, including number properties, percents, ratios, exponents, linear equations, geometry, absolute value, and probability. Overall, he correctly answered almost all of the challenging problems that were presented in my tutoring session. He displayed rigorous mathematical reasoning throughout the entire tutoring session. He is likely to earn a coveted score on the GMAT."
