Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed enthalpy, specific heat, and how to calculate the heat produced or required for a reaction, as well as endothermic vs exothermic reactions. We worked first on homework problems and then on lab problems."
"The student had a project to finish on the chemical process involved in fracking so we proof read and talked through his presentation until he was comfortable fielding questions about the topic. Last week, the student and his mother met with the college counselor who reminded them they need to take the SAT subject test in Chemistry in order for to have the online LS course count for his college entrance requirements in science. We spent today researching the format of the SAT subject test and practicing with sample multiple choice questions. I suggested the student purchase a current guide for the SAT subject test in Chemistry which has practice exams we can use to study from."
"In this session, we reviewed material that would be tested on the upcoming exam tomorrow. This was material that we had covered the last couple sessions, such as electronegativity, and covalent/ionic bonding. There were a couple questions regarding metallic bonding. After breaking it down, she seemed a bit better at it. When answering questions on a practice assessment, she was answering those correctly, so I believe she is understanding it. The first set of questions we answered were conceptual on the aforementioned topics, then she went through the practice assessment, all of which were multiple choice. There were a couple I had to walk her through, but the others, she did quickly without any help."
