Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we reviewed English for the ACT. We focused on the student's weaker areas in the subject through use of samples from her diagnostic. She struggled with some of the grammatical concepts, but quickly picked up as we progressed through examples. I am sending her additional practice on her weaker areas and have asked her to continue working on the assignments I've already given her. There were no concerns from this session."
"We did some writing practice. I gave the student a couple of writing prompts, and went over her writing with her. We also did another reading passage. We reviewed vocabulary. We also did some activities on the math website."
"Today, we focused on building vocabulary and effectively approaching the reading section (in particular sentence completion). I showed the student a number of techniques that would help her either choose the correct answer or narrow down her choices significantly. We then briefly spoke about a few Latin prefixes and I requested that she self-study the most frequently-used SAT words in her SAT review book, and to begin memorizing some Latin prefixes and suffixes to aid her in deciphering SAT words she may she in the future but not automatically recognize. We also completed almost 50 practice questions together."
