Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I discussed what her previous ACT scores were and what sections she would like to focus on, as well as her score goals. We went through the mistakes she had made in the ACT prep guide section on English, and we noticed some themes that were reoccurring. We did an extensive review of these types of problems, and the student seemed to catch on quite quickly to these grammar rules and ACT strategies. I think she can really improve on the English section. Next session, we will cover science."
"We began our session with a vocabulary quiz. We will do this each time and select new words to study. We divided the rest of our session equally between math and reading. When we reviewed the practice problems the student missed, he is almost always able to realize where he went wrong. The only ones he needs additional help with are geometry problems and theoretical word problems. He is able to learn new words very quickly, however, so we will make sure to add new words to his list every week. For homework, he will study vocabulary and complete a full practice test."
"We covered the writing section primarily. The student will need to work most on adjusting her writing expectations to the assessment test essay from what she's used to in her English class. The student was genuinely interested in learning how best to approach the assessment test, and had a positive, relaxed attitude about the test overall. For next week, the student is to attempt a routine of 20 to 30 minutes of vocabulary practice everyday followed by a 25 minute writing prompt."
