Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I did a review for his test tomorrow. We went over inverses and asymptotes and polynomials and graphing mainly. He is definitely getting faster at this math skills. I think he has been practicing on his own quite a bit. As always he is well prepared with lots of questions which makes my job easy. He also seemed well rested today which is good as well. I gave him some tips for his test tomorrow. Progress is good."
"The student and I discussed the law of sines, graphs of the tangent function, and applications of periodic functions in preparation for his upcoming test. He had no problems understanding these concepts."
"We mainly studied for his quiz tomorrow. We first discussed the unit circle and the efficient approach in memorizing and utilizing it. Then, we tackled some problems that are going to be covered in his quiz tomorrow. He showed considerable improvement in his understanding of the material as we discussed it further. However, he still needs additional practice to be fully comfortable with the material."
"Review of trig word problems, introduce polar coordinates and functions with some basic graphing, introduce vectors and vector operations, relation to trig functions and right triangles."
"Today, we continued our discussion of vectors by talking about the dot product and projection. We talked about what they mean graphically, how to derive the formula, and why they are important."
"We reviewed problems from the student's textbook and from his previous tests to prepare for his final exam. He demonstrated his ability to perform the problems correctly."
"Went over a review of factoring and simplifying variable expressions on practice Pre-Cal test. Discussed vertical asymptotes and zeros of a rational function."
"We reviewed algebraic concepts such as simplifying expressions, factoring polynomials, solving quadratic equations, and linear combination."
"Discussed sequences and series, including finite and infinite, summations, and arithmetic and geometric series."
"The student completed her summer review packet for pre-calculus today. Topics covered included domain and range of functions. Graphing functions (with shifts). Also factoring and solving for zeros."
"We worked on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing functions and taking functions of functions. We worked on finding equations from a graph. I gave the student written instructions for homework she is to do. For her math and physics classes, she is to write down either a question she has about the material, a topic she needs more explanation on, or something she really understood. We also talked about how to focus when working. Right now, I want her to start by working on school work for 30 minutes, then taking a 15 minute break, repeating until her work is done. During those 30 minutes she may not use the phone. Every week we will up the work time by 5 minutes."
"The student needed help with her pre-calculus homework. We covered topics including line graphs, exponents, scientific notation, and intermediate algebra topics."
