Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was my last session with the student. She noticed that she got more of the answers she did attempt correct than usual. I told her that this is a good argument for her to diagram more slowly and intently, and just practice building up her speed. The grouping game was toughest for her again, so we reviewed it together, making some more inferences and improving a bit on her diagram. Overall I told her to focus on diagramming, taking time to make inferences, and erring on the side of drawing out possibilities for every question. The last part of our lesson was spent reviewing some logical reasoning concepts. She is doing well with this section. We reviewed how to find assumptions and practiced some of these problems. I also encouraged her to try and come up with her own answer for each problem before going to the answer choices. Overall she is doing really well. I told her to try and do as many practice tests as possible before taking the test to get as comfortable as she can with the test, but that she should expect to do just fine."
"We reviewed reading comprehension section and how to read/interpret passages. We talked about day-of-test stress strategies."
"The student took a timed practice test yesterday. I then outlined a long-term study approach that I think will best prepare her for the fall. We reviewed questions that she had found particularly problematic on the practice exam, and I demonstrated how my techniques could have been applied to each."
