" I make math fun for students who don't care for math. I feel everyone can truly like math and some, like me, can even love it. I have worked with students, who learn concepts and apply them properly, perform better on tests at school as well as tests like the ACT and SAT. Improving grades and scores on college entrance tests provide more choices of colleges and more financial aid in forms of grants and scholarships."

" Because of my major, I have taken a lot of Math and Science courses at the college level, so I understand which skills and concepts are critical to have a firm grasp on in order to tackle more advanced concepts. My tutoring style for each problem or concept is to define the goal and break down the process (which is often initially confusing) into steps towards that goal. This works whether we're working with graphing an equation, learning photosynthesis, or writing an essay. Since I attended high school here in Houston, I understand how challenging the courses can be. But in my opinion, every subject gets to be a lot easier when it's broken down ...

" As one of the more advanced students in every math or science class I took, many of my classmates would come to me for help. I eventually made this an official pastime by applying for and receiving a job in the Mathematics Lab at the University of Missouri St. Louis tutoring in math classes through discrete structures. I also was recommended by an academic advisor to be a private tutor for calculus 2.."

"I began tutoring as a high school student where I worked with other students in my school district tutoring mostly math and science. Then, before attending college I spent 6 months teaching English in Peru. Last year, as a sophomore in college, I was a TA for the Spanish Department, responsible for creating and executing my own lesson plans for two one-hour classes per week for Spanish 102, grading homework and designing my own quizzes. I also tutored occasionally through our on-campus tutoring program."

I have over seven years of research experience in the life sciences (chemistry, general biology, biochemistry, biophysics, physiology, etc), so I would be able to assist in a variety of fields. As a graduate student, I was a teaching assistant for several undergraduate and graduate level biochemistry courses. Science is my true passion, but I also have experience tutoring in math and test prep. I have been tutoring since high school, and have excellent communication skills. Scientific concepts can be really complex." ...
