Tutoring review by Brian in Fairview Heights, IL
Today we covered section 8.2 in the text. The primary concept was confidence intervals in relation to the standard error of a proportion. The student initially made mistakes identifying which data in the problem correspond to which variable. We should review this next session. We covered how to determine the correct value of z* for a given confidence level. She was able to correctly explain CIs in plain language and identify common statistical errors such as sample bias and response bias. She reports that the test we reviewed for last session went generally well with some problems regarding statistical simulations. We will review the test next session. She had a positive attitude overall.

Tutoring review by Kwaku in Fairview Heights, IL
Today the student and I covered strictly algebra. She has an exam tomorrow morning so, we went over all the sections of the chapter that will be on the exam. She is doing very well. She didn't really struggle at all, but simply needed some brushing up and advising. I gave her a lot of strategies for converting radical expressions to exponential form and vice versa. She did fairly well on her last exam, so we are hoping that she will do even better this time.

Tutoring review by Michael in Fairview Heights, IL
We spent most of the session working on long division and synthetic division of polynomials. We also reviewed some basic factoring problems and then worked with factoring by grouping. We finished by tying in the results of synthetic division to factoring the remaining quotient.

Tutoring review by Jennifer in Fairview Heights, IL
Student A is working on adding and subtracting fractions with whole numbers. We also have been working on knowing when to reduce a fraction. She sometimes gets confused if it is not an easy division problem (anything above her twelve multiplication facts). She is also working on identifying and comparing fractions. Student B is still working on learning her multiplication facts. We are still working on her fours but have added our fives. She understands the concept behind multiplication but is having trouble memorizing her facts. I have left her with multiplication flashcards and plenty of practice problems for her to work on.
